Humans of WorkflowMax - Meet Lauren

fullsizeoutput_1

Welcome to Humans of WorkflowMax! Occasionally we like to feature one of our awesome team members. We’ll talk a bit about what they do, their passions, some fascinating facts, and what makes them tick.

We’d like to introduce you to Lauren, WorkflowMax Channel Manager based in San Francisco, California. We had a chat to her about life in and out of WorkflowMax.

Tell us about your role

I’m the Channel Manager for WorkflowMax in the United States and Canada. I wear a lot of hats but I love what I do! During any given week I could be traveling to an event with the Xero team, hosting live training events, answering support tickets, and demoing WorkflowMax to potential customers.

Why did you join WorkflowMax?

I’ve worked at Xero for 7 years and I originally started out as an Account Manager working with our Xero partners. Five years ago we hosted the first XeroCon in the United States and I met Gavin George, the founder of WorkflowMax. Xero had recently acquired the product and Gavin came to the US to attend the event and he was also on the lookout for the first sales rep for WorkflowMax in North America. I was immediately impressed by the product and the enormous potential for growth so when Gavin mentioned his intention for the trip I jumped at the chance to apply. Now, five years later, I have grown in my career, with the product and with Xero.

What’s working at WorkflowMax like?

Working at WorkflowMax, especially in a developing region, is exciting and fun! I especially enjoy the fact that no two days are the same - I get the opportunity to travel to new places, chat with people from all types of businesses that are all over the country.

Tell us something #human about yourself

Aside from WorkflowMax my real passion is in the kitchen - most weeks I am cooking up something new and unique for my family and friends. In fact, every Sunday night my group of friends come over and we host a “Sunday Family Dinner” some people bring wine, others an appetizer or dessert and I am in charge of the main course. I like changing things up and am always striving for a dish that will bring the WOW factor.

Do you have any advice to share with the readers of this blog?

Trust your instincts! This has been the theme of my career. Giving voice to the intuition I have and using it as the foundation to form logical and conscious reasoning has benefited me and the teams I have worked in a lot. Whether that is suggesting a new idea, challenging the status quo, or taking the next step in my career my intuition has been a strength of mine. I hope this encourages others to develop and sharpen their intuition!

One of my favourite things about starting this Humans of WorkflowMax series is learning more about the colleagues I work with and getting inspired by the advice they share. So I encourage you to take the time to get to know your colleagues, you may find a hidden chef in the team!
